I don't think the large corporations will listen--it would take a drastic fall in sales and a lot of people complaining of this practice before corporations (and shareholders) would listen, IMO. However, this sort of thing might be the best thing to happen to local, small producers for those who care enough to buy local.Yet another reason to avoid processed foods. I was appalled when I heard about this, but it's just the latest example of the screwed up mentality surrounding food in this country. If people don't speak out against this sort of thing, it will only continue to get worse.
I believe more and more there's something to be said for that whole "eat local" thing.
