i was going to post something here, but it might have been said already. i guess i should go back and read so it's not repetitive...
but seriously, it depends on a couple of factors. if i have time to read everything; if i'm very interested in the subject at hand; if i think a reply bears repeating - apparently at the expense of those with delicate sensibilities. i apologize to the latter for redundancy.
call me a brute or worse if you will for that, but in my defense i make sure to read all responses in a thread where someone is hurting and/or looking for support. i always read through all of those because those are the
only threads where it matters to be offering your individual and original support to the person in need, not just to hear yourself speak. the rest are just discussions and cooking stuff, so repetition doesn't matter as much.
for the day to day stuff, i just don't always have the time to read every post in a thread, so if i have a really good (imo) response, or the subject is something close to my heart i might be inclined just to blurt out a reply.
when i have the time, i occasionally skim over the really long posts (like this one is starting to be
), reading all or most of the rest of the replies. some people are given to really long responses, and unless it's the chief, i'll skim over the ones from people that i very often don't agree with.
hey, where's ol' chief longwind, anyway? i'm tempted to send out pm's to people who know him to start a practical joke when he returns. we should wait until he posts, then all of us repeat exactly what he just wrote as if he never responded... lol.
