When I was young, over 50 years ago, my grandmother made something she called an "egg pie". It was almost pure egg yolks, sugar and some butter. It was very thin and she often kept them in the refridgerator. It wasn't a chess pie. It was delicious. It may have contributed to the fact that I can only see the tips of my toes when I look down now:), because of the bulge around my middle. Does anyone remember anything like this egg pie??

The worst baker at Discuss Cooking is actually attempting to answer your question

Could this be the recipe?

2 sticks butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 can evaporated milk
1 tbsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350°

Mix the melted butter with the sugar. Once combined mix in thoroughly the four eggs then add the evaporated milk and vanilla. Pour this mixture into 2 single pie shells or one deep dish shell.

Bake 40 minutes or until pie does not bubble anymore.

Elf I beg to differ! It does sound like a flan or egg custard in a crust and I'd use a sweet crust. Oh you're making me drool!

I have a recipe just like kitchenelf's except that it uses buttermilk instead of evaporated.
