We got back yesterday, it was one of the most fascinating trips I have made.
Belgrade was the same as most capital cities but in the countryside it was about 60 yrs behind Europe.
The people, not only my wife's family were so hospitable and kind I was overwhelmed.
The food is very simple, the major component is meat lots of meat! the bread is the best I have eaten, they make a fantastic cornbread biscuit that with kajmak(a type of clotted cream) and wild strawberry jam was fab, they had never had this combination but wanted to eat a typical British high tea.
These are a few pics of a floating restaurant on the Danube, it is one of the best in Belgrade. The 3 course diner for 7 cost about $130 inc wine beer.
