So glad you're awake and doing well enough to post! (Does that mean very little pain or large doses of morphine???) Sorry you have to stay in the hospital and I hope your doc gave you an attractive scar. How's the hospital food?
They gave me a localized pain reliever - there's a catheter going into the area, connected to a device that pumps in the medicine. So it's just a little sore, as long as I'm not moving around
Hospital food? At first, they said to do a clear liquid diet, till the anesthesia wore off more. DH brought me a bowl of chicken broth from Panera. Then, while he was here, the surgeon came in and said I can have anything I want. The cafeteria downstairs was closing, so DH got me a beef barbecue sandwich. A friend came by earlier and said she would bring me lunch tomorrow - as it happens, I'm in a hospital across the parking lot from the medical school where I work, so I'll be working the phone tomorrow arranging lunch with friends for the rest of the week
The weird thing is, the hospital food looks great and smells wonderful, but it's absolutely ... tasteless. No flavor whatsoever. (This is the same one where I was in for 11 days last spring.) The breakfast isn't bad, though. Scrambled eggs and bacon, and a good biscuit with butter and jam. DH brings me coffee, though. Isn't he incredible? Last spring, he was here every morning at 6:30 with home-brewed coffee, my favorite creamer, and the newspaper.
He's the best. Speaking of which, I need help coming up with a suitable way to show how much I appreciate all he's done - one we can discuss here! I thought about a massage, since he had shoulder surgery a couple of months ago. What do you all think?
