The saga continues. DH ordered a new hard drive. It should arrive on Tuesday. He will have time to open up my computer next weekend.
Today, things didn't really get much better. I am currently using DH's laptop. I have spent most of the day configuring my account on this laptop and configuring Firefox. I was going to give another go at making that dish with the ramen noodles and the tofu strings and the bok choy substitute. Well, I was having some success. I found a small cauliflower with leaves and I figure those will make a decent bokchoy substitute. Yes, I will have to slice the white part of those leaves thinner than I would slice the bokchoy. But, then I tried to access the recipe on my tablet. Copy Me That was loading really slowly and then wouldn't load at all. I tried on my phone, no luck. I could still access it on the laptop. Then, I tried to update something and it went to a page saying that CMT wasn't available now. They are doing maintenance. I loaded the recipe from the original site onto my tablet, but it really wasn't laid out conveniently and it was for the full amount, not the scaled to 1/2 that I have available on CMT. I hate having to deal with all the settings for a new computer and the associated software.
I have also apparently forgotten what my most recent Google password is. It tells me that I last updated 3 months ago. There was suspicious activity, so I had to hop through hoops to get the account activated again. One of the hoops is giving a recovery code. I had downloaded ten one time use codes. I have had to use about four of them. But, I don't have them printed out. I have them on the laptop with the borked hard drive. I think I have learned a few lessons from this nightmare. I don't want to try what I think is a newer password for Google, because I really don't want to have to hop through those hoops again. Hopefully enough data can be recovered from the borked hard drive to get the recovery codes or even my Firefox passwords (all protected with a very long primary password) or my Password Safe. I do have access to my Gmail account on my phone and on my tablet. I can even read my email on a laptop, because I can forward it to my Yahoo email account. I can still get into that.
I wanted to update on this now, because DH will be coming into the bedroom soon, to relax and will want his laptop back. That relegates me to my phone and tablet again. It's just so much easier to touch type than to one finger hunt and peck on a tiny, virtual keyboard.
