Smoked Butt & Cabbage in Slow Cooker

I've made smoked butt with cabbage for years, essentially boiling it for an hour or so, adding the cabbage, and boiling until the cabbage is tender. But it occurs to me that the meat might be much more tender if I use a slow cooker. Thoughts?

Not a fan of slow cookers. Cook it in a dutch oven in the oven (300ºF) for a couple of hours.
