You can substitute fruit juice for the liquid, and add silken tofu instead of yogurt. But either way is good.
Here's a recipe that's a big hit in our house. It uses a mixture of flavors to build texture and flavor depth.
1 brick silken tofu
1 cup apple juice
1 carrot, peeled
1 apple, cored but with peeling intact, quartered
1 pear, cored with peeling intact, quartered
1 banana
1/4 cup Splenda Sweetener
1/2 cup fresh strawberries (optional)
Anther great combination uses yogurt and fruit, along with some spices to give it zip.
1 cup plain yogurt
1 cup apple juice
1/ cup raspberries
2 apples, cored and quartered
2 ripe plumbs, pitted
1 carrot, peeled and quartered
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
a dash of ginger
2 bananas
Savory Smoothie
2 fresh tomatoes
1/2 tsp. salt
1 stalk celery
2 tbs. fresh cilantro
1 tbs. onion powder
1 clove garlic
1/2 tsp. black pepper (optional)
1 tbs. Worcestershire Sauce
2 halapino or chipotle peppers
dash of cayenne pepper
a dash of Tobasco sauce
2 cups V8 or tomato juice
1 tbs. Lime juice (optional)
Serve over ice cubes
