Thank you all! Much appreciated....I added some more cream cheese and it's looking pretty good. Most importantly though, it takes great! Merry Christmas!
Anni, thanks for responding so quickly. It's cream cheese, mayo, crab meat, mustard, sugar and sherry (the sherry made it thin). If I add the roux, do I have to bring it to a boil to make it thicken? I am afraid to bring it to a boil. THANKS!
I made hot crab dip and it's too liquidy....i tried adding some flour and no results (I am afraid to let it boil) - what can i add to thicken? It's a cream cheese base and i have to make sure not to curdle it. Thinking...bread crumbs? THANKS!!!!
I am making the Williams Sonoma butternut squash casserole (which uses pre-purchased WS butternut squash puree as the base). If I make this now, would it be ok to freeze it? I have never frozen a casserole, and don't want to mess it up after the $ investment of the ingredients. Thanks...
Casserole Q - can I make ahead and freeze this
I am making the Williams Sonoma butternut squash casserole (with purchased squash puree from WS). Do you think it would be ok to make this now and freeze it for Christmas?
Also, it calls for Nilla Wafers, but I would like to substitute...
Can any of you experienced cooks help with this? When you use a double boiler, do you fill the bottom pan up to the point where it touches the insert? Or do you leave air/space for the water to boil. The last time I used my double boiler (it's a rare occurence!) to make eggnog, I ended up...
I have banana bread in the oven. The recipe (mom's) says bake 1.5 hours at 350. I have a convection oven and am making mini loaves. Any idea how long? I hate to keep opening the oven cos they will fall....they look done and it's been 20 minutes. Thanks!
QSis, I boil it, but steaming would be fine also. Cook it until tender, and remember to drain very thoroughly and squish all the water out of the cooked squash before combining with the other ingredients. Enjoy!
I am making the Williams Sonoma butternut squash casserole for Thanksgiving. It calls for 1 tsp orange extract. I will never use it for any other purpose so would like to save $ and use a substitution. Any thoughts about using Grand Marnier instead? Or I also have dried orange peel, perhaps I...
Are you referring to the AOL article that said pistachios help reduce the bad cholesterol level? Great news for us pistacho lovers!!! Thanks for finding that pound cake link, I must try it...
I know this doesn't belong in baking, but thought more bakers would know the answer...so thanks in advance.

I agree with Jessica about hiccups, there are cures. Getting really "scared" does work. Also, bending over from the waist and drinking water from a glasswhile in this position works for some strange reason.
As for vinegar, I always use it with milk to substitute for buttermilk. And it has...
I must say, this is not a fair question...favorite casserole?
Butternut squash casserole
Yellow squash casserole
Corn casserole
And we can't forget the ever-sacred "green bean casserole" on Thanksgiving!
