    Pork Roast

I have quit doing the Pork Loin. The Boston Butt or Shoulder roast much more favorable. Also use this for pulled pork sandwiches. No fancy sauces. With all the BBQ sauces on the shelf I don't have to worry with making a sauce. I prefer the Bull's Eye original, with KFC Cold Slaw. Pretty close...

What to do with Bacon Grease?

All these suggestions sound GREAT! Since my wife does not care for the bacon fat to us as seasoning I have no reason to keep it. Can't pour it down the sink drain -- Plumbers are EXPENSIVE! Can't pour it in the trash bag-- Runs over every thing! Can't dump it in the back yard -- dog tracks it...

    How does cooked pasta freeze/thaw?

My spaghetti taste better after it has been frozen a week or two, thawed out and reheated in the Microwave. Add fresh Parmesan cheese. We also like to serve it with frozen cut corn. I have kept some vacuumed packed 4 - 6 months with the same results .

    Freezing high quality roast beef?

I wouldn't use Zip Lock bags for long time storage. I use the vacuum sealer and I have kept meat over a year. You have to get the air out to prevent freezer burn. Charlie

    Elastic dough

Shrinking Dough I agree with ARKY! I make a yeast dough for my cinnamon rolls and I have to let it "rest" before I can roll it out. Hungry

What's for dinner Thursday, July 30th?

Hosin Sauce I bought a bottle of hosin sauce a while back for some recipe that called for it. Now I don't remember what it was for. Can you give me some uses for it? Is it salty? Is it spicey hot? Maybe I should just taste it!! TIA, Hungry

    The Perfect Steak

Steak John, I'm with you on this one! This is just the way I do my RibEye. But like you I haven't did the Dry Brine... Maybe next time. I'll tske GB's word that the salt won't draw out all the moisture. I do sneak a pat of butter on, when it comes off the grill. Mine never has a chance to...

Advice for "shoulder picnic" cut of pork....

Pulled Pork Mike, I have been tempted to buy one of the pork shoulders for pulled pork. I usually use the Boston Butt, but here lately they have been too fat. I ALWAYS cook my pork roast before I pull it. I would think after roasting for 5 hours it would be ready to pull. If not finish it...

Need help defining some cooking terms

I guess all the Tech support people at Microsoft. Intuit, H/P, Dell, and others will just have to start telling people that need help to "Read the Manual" I see a lot of individuals coming to this forum for help and usually get an answer to their question.

    Food poisoning

Mayo I explained that I did clip the wrong paragraph to make my point. The link to Snopes was so every one could read the whole story and make their own decision. Ed Mullins is a chemist in the Mullins Food Products. The Google to the Mullins Products was to show the magnitude of the...

    Food poisoning

Food Posoning It appears that I clipped the wrong paragraph for this post. For as long as I can remember keeping food prepared with mayonnaise out of refrigeration was a NO! NO!. The information I wanted to pass was that mayonnaise is not the threat that I have thought all my life which I...

    Food poisoning

Onions I only wish more people would take time to verify the facts before they fill my inbox with unfounded stories. Yes, I could have been more selective in my post and reflected my concern about the mayonnaise. Not the onions or Potatoes
