We always end our meal with something sweet. On weeknights it is usually some fruit with a couple of cookies for the kids. On the weekends, I try to make something.
Oh re: the 10 baggies of frozen bananas.... I take them out one at a time to make muffins etc. I prefer to do that then freeze them whole because the slimy black frozen bananas turn my stomach!
Sure... Here's the recipe and a pic....
2 cups torn bread
1 cup raspberries (frozen or fresh)
1 mashed banana
2 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
2 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
Spread bread layered with raspberries and banana in a greased casserole dish. Heat the milk and stir...
The other night I made a chocolate bread pudding with bananas and raspberries, it was very good, but it will come nowhere close to using 10 bananas!! When I have lots of ripe bananas I mash them and then freeze them in plastic baggies for later (1 cup in each baggie).
My lunch sandwich on Sunday (Chicken Breast with Bacon, Swiss Cheese, Lettuce and Tomato).... just a plain one, but pretty nonetheless. I love Cranberry Mayo (mix 1/4 cup mayo with 1 tbsp cranberry sauce)
Well it isn't a holiday in Canada :-( .... so I think we'll be using up leftovers from the weekend. We have to eat quick tonight so we'll be done before the hockey game starts. I'm from Ottawa and we're going for the Stanley Cup.
How about Pizza? That turns out great on the BBQ. I also have a grill basket that I throw veggies into to go alongside my meat. I hate using the oven in the summer - its too hot.
Saganaki for starters
Spinach Salad with Feta and Balsamic Vinaigrette
Green Olive Fougasse
Filet Mignon with Roquefort butter
Grilled Asparagus
Smashed Potatoes
Omm Ali (Egyptian Bread Pudding) for dessert.
I'm so full I can barely move....
1.5 tbsp fresh lime juice
3 tbsp Apricot jam
pinch of grated lime rind
.5 tbsp grated ginger
Mix together and paint on Chicken before grilling. It's yummy.
Thanks for the awesome suggestion, unfortunately (or maybe luckily) I don't have an ice cream maker.
I ended up making a Caremilized Onion and Wild Garlic Quiche in a couscous crust. It was quite nice. I used the couscous for the crust because I had some leftover.
I'll type out the recipe...
