    DC Kids :)

@Jabb - the "blue" one looks quite familiar! :) He's such a ham, &, one of the silliest, nicest boys I've ever met!! Wishing him lots of luck on his upcoming engagement...his soon to be must surely have a delightful heart!! I admit that I am biased towards Jab's boy, but, I have met him IRL...

Having tea for the Royal Wedding?

Alright, ok, - I "get it" that this marriage is a super-wonderful thing to the folks "in the know"..., but, maybe its the USA in me, but, without being rude - Where on earth were these "special people" when my DH & me "tied the knot"?!?!!...ummm....*crickets chirping* they didn't care what I was...

    Hello there!!

Hello back to you!! The closest thing that I am to Whales(whails-sp?) is, if I eat fried, fatty foods. HAHAHA!! A generous dose of "welcome" to you here at DC!!!

Hello from the Middle of No where!

Aye' Mate! G'day to-ya! (no, I'm not Australian, but,...I must state that I adore the accents!) My daughter told me a joke earlier today...it's kiinda corny, but..here goes(from a 3rd grader) - What do you call a lazy kangaroo? PS- Welcome to DC!!

    Refrigerator temps

Our fridge went "haywire" on us a few months ago...maybe like 8 mo's or so. We went through Craigs List, & got a pretty decent deal for a refurbished double-door from some guy in Norfolk that fixed them, then resold them. I honestly can't say that we have ever regretted it...he delivered it, we...

    Opening Cans

I despise electric can openers for whatever stupid reason. I think that I just mainly view them as eternally "dirty" & full of toxins...who knows exactly...just that I avoid them. I actually just use a military-style, rustic little metal bit-o-nuttin to open my cans. They work just fine for me...

    My Dad

Thanks for the prompt reply...just in time for my rosary beads even!! *winks* California, - here it comes!! There is DEFINATELY something "quinky" (HA - a Scooby Doo/Themla remark) that just doesn't sit quite right as far as the GF goes....I KNOW that I am an UBER skeptical person to begin...

    Cast Iron

I also "echo" Josie - WELCOME to DC!! :) But, to add to your question, keep in mind that you can ruin a cast iron skillet in a nano-second by tossing it into a sink full of dishwasher. My DH,....O-I-could-kill-him did this to one of my BEST, most used CI "go to it" pan that was perfectly...

    My Dad

Just read the entire thread Barb...WOW!! Sounds like your entire family has gobs of "soap opera" quality stuff going on. Whew! Just try to focus on your father during this horrendous time, &, pray that his pesterous GF picks up some type of septic hospital disease just to keep her AWAY from him...

    Who's Trying to Lose Weight?

While I admit that I'm NOT trying to lose weight(I'm quite small actually), I AM on a "quest" to eat healthier...(stupid gallstones -ugh). Good news is that I have nearly eradicated myself of those dreaded stones, &, I have thus found out gobs of interesting info about the crap that I USED to...

So confused...what's the difference between a yam & a sweet potato??

So, specifically speaking - what really makes a "yam" a yam, &, what makes a "sweet potato" a sweet potato???

So confused...what's the difference between a yam & a sweet potato??

Anyone?...I bought 5 sweet potatoes from the Farmers Martet on Friday, but....am "stumped" as to prepare them if they are actually just yams or not? I think it would help me gobs in figuring out how to prepare them...just a bit "thrown off" at this point...any helpful advice?

So confused...what's the difference between a yam & a sweet potato??

Maybe its a stupid question, but...still one that I feel compelled to at at least ask...is there a signifigant difference between the 2? IF SO, then, WHAT??? I have been "stumped" on this one for awhile, but, just too scared to ask for feeling "stupid"...I no longer care, I just REALLY want to...

    Favorite Condiment

Glad that you mentioned this tax, because, I have found a way to "amp" it up....soak the bread w/the mixings, then pop it into your oven for around 4-5 min.'s or so, &....Holy Moley - it goes from good to almost an angelic quality!! It is amazing how yummy it gets! :)
