What's for dinner on Saucy Saturday? 10/12/13

We had homemade pizza that I had in part prepared the day before. I had made the tomato sauce and the dough and left it to leaven in the fridge. Me and BF went to a party on Friday so I wanted minimal effort yesterday but still great "day after" food. It was very successful.

What is the best pizza topping?

You could put anything - that's the fun part of pizza! :) I agree that a good tomato sauce is the key. I always make my own. I like to make for example two pizzas with different toppings. I like to put olives, feta cheese, and canned tuna served with some fresh arugula. Or ham, bacon and fresh...

Thoughts on breaking spaghetti prior to cooking

My boyfriend is the same as your husband, he'd also like me to break it. I always eat spaghetti with a fork and a spoon and it would be much more difficult to eat broken spaghetti in my opinion. Then you might as well buy some other shape of pasta from the beginning.

    Hello from Sweden

I love crayfish and we eat them every fall here. The Swedish fresh ones are usually very pricey so it's common to eat Chinese or Turkish frozen ones here as well. (Defrosted of course, hehe) The ones in the avatar are Chinese and they were very tasty. :)

    Hello from Sweden

I'm Ezil. This is funny. Apparently I had already created an account in 2007 but I didn't remember it. When I signed up the other day and wanted my usual user name on forums, Lize, it was taken. Therefor I turned it backwards and called myself Ezil instead. I then discovered that I was the one...

    Jerusalem artichokes?

I love making soup from these! Jerusalem artichokes, potatoes, shallots, white wine and cream. Mix in food processor. It's divine! I have never noticed any flatulence afterwards.

ISO - TNT Recipe for Swedish Meatballs

Okay, the word I was looking for is something that is called "sky" in Swedish . It is for example the fluid that has gathered in the roasting tray after roasting a chicken, the fluid that came out of the meat. Is there a better word for that?

ISO - TNT Recipe for Swedish Meatballs

Exactly! You put some hot water in the pan to "make" some gravy. But the sauce can also be made without gravy. A stock cube is usually enough to get taste. If you want to make it without the gravy you can just put water instead. I often make it like that. :)

ISO - TNT Recipe for Swedish Meatballs

Maybe I am too late, but here's a basic recipe from one of the most common Swedish cook books. Swedish meatballs, or "köttbullar". Ingredients: 400 grams of ground beef and pork (can also be only beef) 4 tbsp of bread crumbs or 3/4 dl of rolled oats 1 tbsp of potato starch (can be replaced with...

    Unit conversion question

Great to hear that one can use the metric system when posting recipes. I was a bit worried I would have to convert everything if I wanted to post. But it seems like there are a lot of different nationalities here, and I guess people use different systems. Now what recipes should I share... :chef:

    Hello from Sweden

Hi! I am a dietitian student from Sweden (will be a dietitian by Christmas). I have been really enjoying cooking only for about five years or so. None of my parents are very interested in it, but my dad is a rather good cook. My interest really peaked after taking some cooking classes at the...
