    Chickpeas and Pasta for one

Canned chickpeas, canned diced or crushed tomatoes and pasta in olive oil. Am embarrassed to ask this but I can't figure out the right proportions for one person. When I have made it I had too much tomatoes for the amount of chickpeas I used and visa versa, but it was still tasty-also used...

    Microwaving Pasta

Has anyone microwaved pasta? I followed the instructions-put about 2 inches of water over the pasta and cook it for 3 more minutes than the instructions on the box. Only a few minutes into it it was steaming. I added more water and every few minutes I would seem what looks like steam. Any...

    Food Processor

I only have a micro mini food processor (will have to find my manual to determine how much it holds) and a blender that is not high powered. I want to make hummus which has one can of chickpeas. What size food processor would I have to buy to make this? Other than this recipe, there is...

    A "somewhat newbie"

I have been a member, although not active, but don't believe I have ever introduced myself. My mother wasn't much of a cook so I had noone to learn from. I've been making simple things, but am working on progressing. I usually have lots of questions when I am trying something I've never done...

    Drying canned chickpeas for roasting

Still consider myself a newbie cook! I am roasting chickpeas for the first time. I didn't know it would take about 45 minutes to an hour to dry the chickpeas. There are different ways of drying them-in a colander, wrapped in a towel or keeping them on paper towels. Which method do you think...

    Wild Salmon

I have baked this at a high temperature-450 degrees and at a low temperature. Wild salmon does not taste good when it is overcooked-was told when you see the white markings, take it out. I do this and the salmon is cool instead of hot. Any suggestions what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

    ISO advice cooking chicken drumsticks

Which is better-baking at a low or high temperature and for how long? Maybe it doesn't matter. I don't bread the chicken-just put salt and pepper on. I read that if you are going to use a sauce to put it on for the last 5 minutes of cooking. I have not been using sauce because I don't want...

    Crockpot-pureeing beans

I am a beginner cook and make a vegetarian minestrome soup-use water, not broth. I don't like the taste of beans but just read you can puree them. How do I do this? Thanks!

ISO help w/kale soup in crock-pot

I make a "vegetarian" kale soup that has beans, diced tomatoes, onions, carrots, kale and water. I prefer to use a lot of kale but because I have been putting it on top, it doesn't "sink" so I can't use as much as I would like. I am going to try putting it on the bottom over the carrots and...

    Juicing a lime

I cut my lime in half and no juice came out-I believe it is because my kitchen isn't warm. I read that you can microwave a lime BEFORE you cut it in half. I wasted one half, but don't want to waste the other half-too late to microwave? I keep my house cool so I may have a problem squeezing...

ISO help w/toaster oven with no temperature controls

My friend gave me a toaster oven because she didn't like that it doesn't have temperature settings. I want to bake fish at 350 degrees. There aren't too many categories. The categories are: cake, pastry, convenience food, potato and poultry. Any advice is appreciated.

    Hi everyone

Hi. I had a baking question and googled "cooking forums". This was the first one I found. I am detail oriented so I typically have questions regarding recipes. I decided to make brownies to bring to a christmas gathering last night and, as usual, the brownies toward the edge were burned and...
