    Stew and cabbage rolls

I presume you defrost these items in their freezer wrapping??? I also froze two pies in pyrex plates. I emailed the Pyrex company and they said that I could put the pies in frozen as long as the oven was preheated. Here's hoping they don't crack!!!!

    Stew and cabbage rolls

I have two questions. I am having company Monday. stew always tastes better the second day, but I would like to do half on Sunday and finish it off the next. I thought if I browned the meat, added the garlic/onion/bay leaf etc. etc., and cooked it slow the first day - then cooled and...

Freeze apple pie prior to baking?

I like to cook my pies in a glass pie plate, as they always come out of the oven nice and brown on the bottom. I was going to make a couple of pies and freeze them, but am afraid to freeze in pyrex and then put them in a hot oven at a later date. Do the foil pans brown the pie crust on the bottom?

Chicken Breasts, rice, soup & chicken stuffing

I am not worried about the carb overload or anything else. I have a recipe for uncooked rice, soup and chicken breasts and was wondering if putting the dressing on top would work. I have to agree though that the dressing would probably be overdone by the time the rice was cooked. Thanks.

Chicken Breasts, rice, soup & chicken stuffing

Does anyone have a recipe for a casserole that includes these items. I can find one for rice, soup & chicken breasts, but nothing that tells me about putting the chicken stuffing on top and baking. Would I cook my rice first or could I put it in raw. Would the stuffing soak up too much of the...

    Baked pie crust

Sorry if that was confusing to you. I had baked the single pie crust and wasn't going to make the pie filling until the next day. That is why I wanted to know if my pie crust would be okay sitting on the cupboard or in the fridge overnight. Your second reply anwered my question. Thank you.

    Baked pie crust

Hi, I had a bit of pastry left and decided to bake it for a single crust pie. I am going to make a lemon pie tomorrow and wondered if the crust will be too soggy by then and should I put something on the top of the crust to keep the filling from soaking in too much. Thanks

Slow Cooker Meat sauce with Tortellini

I put this in the slow cooker forum, but have not received an answer and I need one soon. I am making this for a potluck, but there is a meeting before the supper. The recipe says to add the tortellini 15 mins. to cook before serving. I don't want the pasta to get too soggy, so could I cook it...

Slow cooker meat sauce with Tortellini

I want to make this recipe for a pot luck supper. It says to add tortellini the last 15 mins to cook. Since I am taking it to a place that does not have kitchen facilities, could I pre cook the tortellini at home and just put it in the slow cooker to heat up just before the supper? The problem...

    Moist Meatloaf without tomato

Hi - I have been scanning the internet looking for a good meatloaf that doesn't have any tomato product in it - be it the sauce or whatever. My husband has high potassium so cannot have tomato. Can't seem to come up with anything interesting. Does anyone out there have a good recipe I could use...

    Counter top electric ovens

I guess I should say Roaster Oven - It is made by Toastmaster - at least the one I have is. I have used it for hams and they turn out so nice and moist, but I don't make gravy from a ham.

Do you get good gravy from using one of those electric ovens? Will the turkey brown enough to produce a good gravy?

    Saskatoon pie

Never thought of drying them. Fruit leather sounds so good. I buy them at Costco, but find they are full of sugar - hardly any calories though. :-)

    Saskatoon pie

Well, jam isn't an option here as my husband doesn't really like it and I do not eat very much jam. But, thanks for the info.

    Saskatoon pie

Hi Goodweed of the North. Yes, that is what I am talking about. You mentioned raspberries. I have more raspberries frozen than I can ever think of ways to use them. We have two rows of them in the back and every year people come and pick and I freeze what I can't use fresh. I make raspberry...
