A comforting double layer pancake with nutella and peanut butter and black coffee. The hangover took a beating that morning.

Wow, I love the sound of that pancake Dennis :)

This morning I had a couple of Brown Cinnamon Toast Em's :yum:

Home made bread toasted with home grown tomatoes and a bit of salt n pepper, and a home made flat white coffee in a huge mug lol. Usually it's just boring ole porridge in winter. DH has his weekly specialist appointment tomorrow so we have an hour half drive each way plus 3-4 hours hanging around an Oncology day dept. so it will be quick porridge for me in the morning, he will have his usual bowl of two minute noodles with a can of tuna and some mushrooms and corn. I can't quite get that concoction down particularly in the morning.

CWS I am loving reading your breakfast posts as well as your chicken chronicles. I told DH last night and we are keen to try this out ourselves as I work from a home based office I believe we could work it in. I haven't really experimented with grains and we are really hoping to get some layer chooks soon (no money, then no chooks available) we both love eggs. Keep posting I am gathering many ideas.

Fortunately, if one has the facility for chickens, chickens are fairly cheap to keep, easy to have, and give back. Mine eat almost all my kitchen scraps--I do grind the scraps in the food processor, and free range and eat chicken feed, and sunflowers. I toss extra rice, barley, and wild rice in the freezer so I don't just do one portion, but vary the grains every day. If you have a garden, the greens are easy <g>. Farm-fresh eggs take less time to cook than store-bought ones, for some reason. I usually poach 2 eggs in my microwave egg poacher for 45-50 seconds, so I get the greens and the grains ready first, when they are almost done, do the eggs. If I am pulling the grains out of the freezer, I can make breakfast, including the time to run out to the garden, in 10 minutes.

I skipped yesterday--I was SOOOO hungry at 4:30 p.m. it was uncomfortable. And, I didn't sleep well last night. First time since I started this experiment. I was so full this morning, I didn't finish all the greens or barley. I usually do 1/2 c of cooked grains as a serving.

Probably not the healthiest breakfast.
Couple fried eggs, two slabs of fried liver mush, toast, butter, and a glass of whole milk.
Luckily, I live in a part of NC where cigarettes and fried breakfasts are still good for you.*

I can survive on just the coffee and cigarette. But I can go for the fried breakfast around noon. :yum:

Dh got up & made us a nice breakfast of pancakes with fresh berries & cream, bacon & eggs with coffee. Delightful!

Today is steamed swiss chard, brown rice, and 2 eggs, scrambled (I needed some variety), some vanilla yogurt with fresh strawberries, a glass of Switchel (haymaker's punch). It promises to be a hot and humid day in SE Ontario. This may be all I cook today.
