Leftovers. And salad, but a DIY kind. I have a bag of greens that I've cleaned. Anything beyond that, it's every person for themselves. Momma's on Kitchen Duty strike tonight.

Hot and sour soup. First time for us. Definite make again.

Shrimp shrimp (or shrimp scampi) on the grill, white basmati rice with sun dried tomatoes and scallions in the Zoji, nuked green beans.

Shrimp was marinated in a bit of baking soda and salt (per seriouseats recommendations), then garlic and EVOO. Basmati rice was cooked in the Zoji with a 1 to 1.5 rice to water ratio, with some butter tossed in. Sun dried tomatoes and onions were added during the keep warm cycle. We were drinking wine on the patio while the Zoji was making our side. Life is good.

GF has me making more tomato juice..going to have to start churning the ol' strainer in a few minutes..just ate this..Salcheech with beet greens in garlic and roasted red peppers on a Portuguese roll..wash it down with a cold glass of Colli Albani..It's going to be a late night

A Special Meal

Today is our 25th Wedding Anniversary!
So, it was a road trip Winslow Arizona
"Standin' on the corner" was in order,
but let's eat first!
I've been wanting to go to The La Posada Hotel
and have "linner" at their Turquoise Room

its a girl in a flat bed Ford ... slowin down
to take a look at me ...

Had no idea that this corner was part
of the Route 66 Roadside Attraction,
which we try to catch as many as we can ...

What a perfect day, just like TWENTY-FIVE tears ago today

Happy Anniversary!!!

Many Mahalos, thank you PF!
This is our third time to Winslow.
We were talking on the way back home how
fortunate we are to have been able to see The Eagles, all together
in concert one last time just prior to Glenn Frey's untimely passing.

I tell you what, we want to go back and
stay at The La Posada, what a gorgeous property!

We spent easily 2 hours just wandering around the grounds,
looking at really interesting stuff... and they're not done
rehabbing the hotel.
DH poked his nose into one of the rooms that was
being cleaned and comes scurrying over to me...
"We should come back and spend the night. This is neat!"
This from the man who kept saying the whole way up...
"Why are we going here again? What's the significance of this place?
Are we there yet?"

Here's what's funny Cheryl, we were listening to our
IPhone music on the way up and what song so
you think started as we were just coming into Winslow?

I have stood on that corner, and sang the song.

We were just passin' through, and it was a Sunday, so not good food while there.

I made some simple tacos for Tuesday, with refried black beans, cheddar-jack cheese, diced onions and some sliced jalapeños on flour tortillas. Vegetarian tonight.

CD

Congratulations Mr and Mrs K.

It was taco Tuesday in the form of shredded chicken cheese enchiladas and spiffed up can of pintos. And guac and chips.

I fixed up a ham, cheese and olive plate for myself and the cats. They didn't like the olives...more for me!

What fun and a happy Silver Anniversary to you two Kgirl. May you enjoy at least that many more together!

Dinner tonight was seared sesame seed rare tuna steaks, crispy vegetable bird nests along with egg rolls and leftover fried rice. Could be the wine with dinner, but that's hard to say.;)

Happy 25th to you and your DH, K-Girl! Glad you had a fun day.

Me, too. And then we tooled on over to the Meteor Crater, a huge tourist trap. Himself knew that, but wanted to scoop up a bit of soil from outside the gate. He got close to the fencing and got two palms full into a baggie before he got yelled at! Under his microscope at home, he determined that is wasn't anything special.

I also sang the Star Spangled Banner at Fort McHenry.

THAT was pretty cool.

My wife's first trip to Boston, and then on to Cape Cod, she wanted to stop at Plymouth Rock. I told her, "It's just a rock, and it isn't even where the Pilgrims landed. But, she insisted. When we got there, she looked down, and said, "It's just a rock.":LOL:

Plymouth Rock is a place to take children and tourists, once. What was she expecting?

Last night's dinner was a burger, steamed and buttered fresh string beans and Trader Joe's Pappardelle (tossed with sliced mushrooms and minced onion sautéed in butter then added to undiluted cream of mushroom soup and a splash of half & half).
