Watermelon! Holy moly, good call there.

OK,

Dinner:
Steak/Chicken
Shrimp skewers
Mashed potatoes in crockpot (youngest requested this)
Baked beans in another pot

Quinoa salad
Spinach Salad
Coleslaw
Veggie tray

Desserts:
Slab cake
Nibbly tray (cookies, brownies, lemon bars...come on, you knew those would be there somewhere right?)
Rhubarb crisp
Blueberry pies

All day:
Watermelon
Chips and cheezies
Hummus/salsa/chips

Late night:

Smores
Popcorn
cocoa/coffee/tea/toddies

You are all welcome. Just bring a chair, we're a little short.

@pacanis, left at the silver birch and then right at the stand of pines. Watch out for the rapids! I'll put the smoker out, sniff your way here!

Sounds like a great way to celebrate 20 years together. I was going to suggest a bulgar wheat salad but the quinoa salad is probably similar.

That said, I prefer potato salad with a vinaigrette dressing, too. The tanginess goes great with grilled meats. Let me know if you want two recipes to compare :-)
+1
I was going to mention that potato salad with commercial mayo or with vinaigrette is no less safe than other salads.

And congrats on the anniversary. Have a great time at your party.

Thanks all! Our actual anniversary is Wednesday, we just moved the party to accomodate the out of towners.

I think I've got the party plan down. Now I just need to make sure I have the rest of the weekend's food organized too. We're going to have guests starting Thursday. Stay tuned for menus!

Well, it looks like I came late to this thread! Congrats Alix! Sounds like a great time! I love the menu you have decided on, and would love to be there. I can't actually make it, but I bet I will smell it cooking from here! Our anniversary is on Aug. 1st. We will be in the car traveling from here to Michigan for a visit.

I have an idea for an adult late-night nibble: Summer Melons in Sweet, Spiced Wine. Instead of Sauternes, you could use celebratory Champagne or Prosecco!

That sounds wonderful! I'm going to try it. Thanks, I'll try and take a picture BEFORE I start sampling.

Thanks Hoot. Steve, you should come join us, 15's worthy of note! Happy Anniversary to you. Dawgluver and chopper, bring the boys and come on up and we'll do a joint anniversary party. The more the merrier. I'll toss a pork shoulder in the smoker and that should cover the extra bodies nicely.
