The controversy over whether cornbread should be sweet or not will continue forever. Some say Southerners prefer cornbread unsweetened while their Northern brethren prefer a sweeter variety.

There is no right or wrong here. Try it both ways and decide for yourself. It's so darned easy to make, experimentation should not be overly taxing.

BTW, I use the East Coast Grill's cornbread recipe which is a sweet version and really like it that way. The recipe calls for a CI skillet but I use a SS one and get perfect results.

my recipe that i use most of the time is a sweet version. it is very close in taste to the one served at marie callenders.

i grew up in tenn. on the unsweet and like it to.
