My oven did this with a pizza a while back and we thought maybe the pizza had partially thawed. But this is sourdough. This is on the convection setting.

Has anyone else had this happen? I'm going to do some googling. ImageUploadedByDiscuss Cooking1465179666.827922.jpg

Was the darker end of the loaf at the back of the oven? The back is hotter than the front. Try again without the convection or rotate the loaf part way through the cooking time.

Ironically, at the front of the oven. Which makes no sense to me.

I will try tomorrow with convection shut off to see if that has anything to do with it.

I am wondering if something is broken.

Baking isn't conducive to convection. Convection is best used on covered casseroles, baked potatoes and roast meat.

Well here is the experiment today.

I'm open to the idea convection isn't conducive to baking. But when I googled I found the issue to be with items that can get messy. Which isn't the problem I'm having.

Wonder if maybe items were too close to the front of the oven.

Baked (these were treated differently from each other which is why they browned differently)
