I know what you mean, and I partly hope I don`t guess it as I have no pic prepared yet...

it`s not a sea/ocean based creature, but a large tooth from... it would help if there was some Scale of the item to compare with...

As I stated before, you are looking at the bottom of the object. It's turned up on it's side. It is from an animal that to my knowledge can be found on just about all the continents. (excluding Antarctica and north pole)
