There's some d!@#-head in our neighborhood who obviously got himself a "Muscle Car" and keeps revving his engine and squealing down the main street of our Community.
I say "he", but who knows, it could be a gal who's playing out her teenage years
🤷‍♀️
But whoever this person is really annoying at all different times of day AND night!

<edit - BAHAHAHA! Mussel/Muscle, yeah it's all the same right? :LOL: >
Ah, you know it's main Street. Got him!
I'd write something in big bold letters print them up and tape them all over that street. Eye level. Say something like...

"Dearest Mr. Muscle Car,
Your car isn't all that. Your excessive revving and squealing tires at all hours of the day and night must prove to you by now it's true! Perhaps taking it back to the dealership should fix your noise problem before we do". Insert the local police phone number.
Sincerely,
The whole neighborhood!

Do not leave your name.
This is just a suggestion. ;)

Good Idea, Munky!
Too bad Muscle Car Drivers don't have Muscle Sized Brains. They would never be able to read all that.

Kane, you and I have S....y neighbors! :(
I just received a certified letter from the city's Code Inspector.
One of my neighbors filed a complaint against me with the city for over grown weeds in my front yard. They even sent a picture.
What pisses me off is 1 we've had nothing but down pouring rain and flood warnings for the past 2 weeks. How was I supposed to get out there and get the yard work done. Do they think I like the weeds?
No I didn't. But what else could I do!?
Those old timer F k's are going to hear me today!
They want to fine me $100.00. starting on the 3rd of this month.

I've paid my December and April property taxes early.
Always pay the City's bill the day I get them.
Frankly I think this is nothing but a bunch of Bull S...!
I'm a quiet neighbor. The first one of them that steps in MY yard today had better be ready to hear from me " get the F out of MY yard!"

Badger.!

How can they retroactively fine you? I don't believe that would be legal unless there have been problems prior and you've been put on warning.

You could always print out the rain/flood warnings for the past couple of weeks and send to them with a protest letter.

That's just horrible when people start doing that. I'm sorry you are going through that.

One person's 'within reason' is another person's complaint.

I don't have an answer to your question Medtran. Or how to find out. They already knew about the flooding and the possible evacuation notices, they put them out. Along with the local news.

I just moved here. Never had any prior warnings (Scarlet Letter) taped to my door for everyone to see of any kind. Not even a word from the neighbors about anything.
I had to get rid of my mower and everything else Bbq grills, smokers. Anything that was fun to me.The movers couldn't bring them here because they were a hazard. If it could cause a fire, or something posed as a possible leak they couldn't bring it here. I moved a long distance out of hell to get here. Now this!?

It was really fun using a weed eater yesterday in the rain. It was all I had.
The job was done. I did call them and left them my name address phone # and told them the problem has been rectified.
They did say in the notice that they will be back out in 15 days to see if it was done.

What's really rattled my cage was the picture taken the angle at which it was the photographer had to take that pic was right under my dining room window. That's low & creepy! :(

2 doors up their lawn is twice as bad. Did they get a letter to?
We saw nobody else doing yard work yesterday.

One link. You can select a range of dates once you fill out the first page.

Is this a single family home? Do you rent or own? Those rules sound extremely restrictive, particularly if it's a single family home and you own.

And in 15 days weeds will have grown again. I'd take a picture now of exactly what they sent, plus cut again.

Honestly, this sounds more like an overzealous HOA than a city. I was on the board of a large HOA and the city never got involved until homes were in forclosure and/or abandoned and months had gone by and the yards were extremely overgrown. In fact, we had 1 home that had a pool and the bank that forclosed would do absolutely nothing in regard to maintenance even though the HOA's attorney contacted them multiple times. We had to practically beg the city to step in and declare the home a health hazard to get the bank to do anything because the pool had become a mosquito breeding paradise and lord only knows what kinds of creatures were in the vastly overgrown yard considering we are in South Florida and living within a mile of the western edge of the Everglades at the time.

I'd look at the letter again and make sure it is real and not somebody sending an "official" letter trying to scare you, especially since it sounds like you got a voice mail when you called from what you wrote.

If you had to get rid of your lawnmower, how is your grass getting cut? A service you pay for or is mowing included in your rent/HOA dues. We live in a 55+ community now that includes grass cutting, edging, blowing, but we have to take care of any plantars we have.

We are also allowed to have grills, etc.

I think I would throw some seeds over in their yard. Garlic chives are an invasive plant (that I grow behind my shed!) that comes to mind.

It's a single family home. I own it. Paid in full no mortgages.
Nor is it an HOA neighborhood. I was aware of the fact the city does not maintain the trees on the sidewalks. That's up to the owners to keep and maintain. They do have unmarked black cars that drive around taking pictures to make sure nobody is watering their lawn. The only way to tell it's them is the back fender saying something about 911.
As far as the lawn it didn't need any maintaining when I moved here except for raking up the leaves which I did ever week.
Then the rain came...

The letter was legit. I had to sign for it. The mailman told me I had another one in my mail box. It also said in one "VIA CERTIFIED MAIL AND REGULAR MAIL.
Seems to me they are being over zealous. Lot of work to rat your neighbors out over a lawn! I'd like to know who did it.
Sending me all that garbage cost them money. You would think a knock at the door wouldn't cost them a dime!

I'm keeping what they sent, and we took our own showing it was taken care of.
I don't have a lawn mower yet. I'll forget about what would make me happy (Pellet Smoker) It's not in the budget.
Weed killer is. Would it be my fault if it accidentally gets sprayed into their yard?

@Chef Munky is there a city ordinance about peeping toms carrying a camera near your dining room window, which is creepy?
No idea about that.
By the looks of the picture if I had my blinds open at the time they could have watched me move all over my home.
That's straight up disturbing to me. You just don't do that! EVER!!

There are such things as telephoto lenses that make it seem like you are right there, even if you are not. But, yes, it's disturbing.

And I just realized it was the movers that wouldn't take your things. I was thinking you couldn't bring those things into the community.

One town I lived in... if you made a complaint you HAD to give your name. Reason being if it went to court you had to testify. I had asked what the by-laws were and when I was told that, I said, No, I'll go and speak to them first, then if nothing is done, I'll file an official complaint.
I did speak to them. Didn't have to speak to them again.

Go to the city and find out just exactly what the by-laws are.

ps, be sure to put some "no trespassing" signs up. If a photo is taken ON your property, you can then take action for trespassing. But note, sign has to be up before - not after - the trespassing.

Whoever it was needs to seriously get a life. Find something to do besides watching the grass grow.
I did some checking on the city's website. All that person had to do was fill out a PDF form. Hit submit. Then the city if they felt it necessary (apparently so!) would come out. The complainer would stay anonymous.
I bought this mower last night along with a leaf blower. Then I'll be just like them using the leaf blower at dawn. It would sure be easier for me than using a rake.

Greenworks 2 x 24V (48V) 17" Cordless Lawn Mower, (2) 4.0Ah USB Batteries (USB Hub) and Dual Port Rapid Charger Included.

Hope it's a good mower. Think the USB Hub is a waste. ;)
What!? Really? Ok... We've always had a noisy cranky gas mower. It started when it felt like it. Don't miss it.

Trespassing signs will be bought soon. Looking for a really good sarcastic one on Amazon. If anyone see's one lemme know. :)

BEWARE OF THE HONEY BADGER.jpg

I like the "No pooping" signs... :ROFLMAO:
Oh, now that's another one I need. Good one! :) Thank you.
My next door neighbor uses his blower to blow cat doodies on the side of my house. I'll give him some credit for blowing it all into a nice neat pile for me to clean up.
My cat is indoor, Tad sassy. That's my girl ;)

Chef, the cat poo can be scooped up and tossed into the neighbor's yard.
About the overzealous neighbor who reported your grass--go to that neighbor and tell them why the grass is longer. I'm sure they have been rained on also, and tell them if their grass gets long, you will call code enforcement. Tit for Tat!
What happened to having a real neighborhood rather than a bunch of tattletales, snoops, and nasty people?
