I'm a fat (some type of oil), acid (vinegar or vinegar-based dressing, yogurt or buttermilk, lemon juice, etc.), & seasoning (the sky's the limit) person as far as "the basics" go.

I marinated a cut of beef in coke and rum once. Lots of cracked black pepper as it grilled, and it was awesome!
