I was sifting together ingredients to make a chocolate cake and misread the directions. Now I have a mixture of 2 1/2c cocoa powder, 1 1/2c cake flour, 3/4c sugar. I was only supposed to use 1 c cocoa powder and leave the rest for the frosting. I hate it when I make stupid mistakes like that.

I obviously can't make the cake with it now. Any way to salvage this mixture so I don't have to throw it away? I was thinking maybe making some sort of chocolate pudding from scratch??

Increase the other ingredients and make two cakes instead of one. Then you'll only be 1/4 cup over on the cocoa in each cake.

Oh, what a great idea. Never thought of that. Thanks Andy!:)

I've mentally divorced myself from this cake already so am going to make it from a box and save the mixture for later.
