Ah, the Quad Cities. North of where I went to school, down in Macomb. Running up to the Quads on the weekend was considered to be quite the adventure. Guy I worked for always went up to Moline for the horse races on the weekend. You're right about the miles and miles of corn and (proper term) beans. Rock Island is also the home of a former Civil War-era prison and arsenal.

jenny, it's Western Illinois University, located in the only county in Illinois that did not vote for Abraham Lincoln.

That would be Illinois State University, not to be confused with the behemoth at Champaign/Urbana known as the University of Illinois.
