I just recieved my first set of ss cookware and tried to season them with oil. two pans caught fire :( and now have a carmelized glaze on them. any suggestions on how to remove the stains?

Welcome to the site. I would try using Barkeepers Friend on them. It gets most things off of SS.

SS does not need to be seasoned so once you get them clean you will be ready to cook with them.

GB has it right, he's one of our gurus.

Also effective when ou have that light brown glaze if hardened oil on a pan is to spray it with Dawn Power Dissolver. Works great to save on the elbow grease.
