hey there everyone!I have a recipe for sweet potato fries and it calls for a spicy brown mustard. My problem is that i do not have this on hand so i was wondering if there was a substitute i could use or maybe some how mix up something similar--
the recipe is a bit spicy with things like cayenne pepper, chili powder, pepper flakes..and spicy brown mustard. Any ideas would be a big help

Is the mustard to be used as a dipping sauce, or as an ingredient?

If it were an ingredient, I'd use plain mustard. If there is cayenne etc already, you may have enough spice. (taste it and see how it is)

If it's for a sauce, I'd assume you could use a plethora of different sauces for this.

Agree with Jkath, would probably just go with any mustard I had.

Would try a bit and taste it, and adjust the amount, or try to add something that could improve it.

Maybe a tad of vinegar or worcestershire sauce might give it a bit more of the zing that one finds in 'brown mustards' rather than the usual yellow ones.

Or might try adding a bit of Colmans to yellow mustard to give it a bit more of a kick.

No mustard at all?

Maybe a bit of horseradish and mayo might work. It would be different.

Just a few ideas, hope they help.

Enjoy.
