I thought this was a really good idea to share!

Never thought of that use for car keys. We have 3 security forces for our house: an alarm system, a loud dog and neighbours. We've had a few people sneak around our house and our neighbour has almost had someone break in while he was home. Then again, we've had the same.

My way, have a dog whose nice to you and know a good amount of martial arts.

:rolleyes:I had all the safety I needed last Thursday night...LOL

I started to bed at midnight and picked up my house alarm remote. The wrong way ! the alarm went off, I turned it off and climbed into bed...the phone rings..it is the alarm company. I identified myself but when he asked for the password ..my mind went blank. He said "OK"... back into bed..the door bell rings.."who is it?" this is the ( says the town I live in) Police. Your panic alarm went off. Then I opened the door after I looked through the peep hole..he said "your dome light in your car is on.If you unlock the car door I will turn it off. I pushed my door button on my car keys and he turned it off and I locked the car. (I have a security screen door and keep it locked.) Back to bed...The phone rings again .I thought it was a neighbor. It was the alarm company again saying " you gave the wrong password and we run a strict organization here so we called the police." THEN I remembered the password after he said " I will mail you your password"

Now I will receive a bill for $150.00 for a false alarm...even though I pay $35.00 a year for a permit to the city...at least I know what I pay the alarm company each month works....

I just got a van with the panic alarm on the key. Never thought to use it like that. What great advice. Thanks JoAnn!!!!
Dove- It stinks to pay 150$ but at least you know the security company is doing their job.

That's a really good idea.

I use the panic button on my remote to find my car in mall parking lots because I usually don't remember where I left it. Fortunately, I don't go to the mall often.

if you have a House Alarm, all you need to is intercept the Tamper CCT, and then extend the wire to a switch next to your bed.

it`ll do exactly the same thing for those that don`t have a car or that function OR (as in our case) the key won`t transmit that distance.

if you need any help on How to do this, let me know, it`s REALLY easy!

We have a real cheap and simple car alarm on our mini van. If you get too close it goes "arp! arp!".
The one on our house goes "Ooooo!"
