I'm trying to make a Brazilian dessert (Pamonha), and I've tried 3 times already. The first time I tried it, it came out too sweet and not hard enough. The second time I put coconut milk instead of water to give it a coconuty flavor, but it ended up tasting terrible.! I figured the coconut milk was weird (weird asian brand), or maybe ruined. So I tried a third time, doing the same as I did the first time, and it also tasted awful.
I have no idea what ingredient, or what circumstances could make the whole thing taste so bad.! The ingredients are the following:

  • 12 corns on the cob
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of shreded coconut
  • a bit of salt
Hmm...now that I see, maybe I forgot the bit of salt on the last two times. Could it be it??

If not, I don't know why some corn with sugar would taste so awful.

Thanks
