Hi all,

So I was in a rush this morning and clearly wasn't thinking straight!

I am making a bolognaise in my slow cooker and decided to brown the mince first as I wanted to drain the fat off first and I don't like the texture when it's put in raw. Whilst it was browning I put frozen vegetables in the slow cooker and then added the mince when it was only part cooked. I stupidly didn't think about the fact that the vegetables had only been in the slow cooker for a matter of minutes and were still frozen.

I am very paranoid about food safety and Im now worried that the mince will have cooled completely before being heated back up and cooked. Is this safe? Am I going to poison my family!!

Advice greatly appreciated!

Assuming the cooker is already on, it will heat up and you'll be fine. Food safety concerns of this type center around how long food is in the danger zone. Food danger zone temps are 40ºF-140ºF. Foods should not be in this range of temperatures for more than two hours. So turn on the cooker and put on the lid. It'll heat up to a safe temp in no time and your food will be safe.
