I often make the "cake mix and soda" type of thing, and since this only calls for water, I wonder if that means I can use something other than soda for that?
Like juice, or .... Anyone?

Do tell!!
"Cake mix and soda?" Do you mean cake mix and baking soda, or cake mix and soda pop? How do you make your snack cake?

Gahh, hope this isn't the start of a left turn to this thread about what a carbonated drink should be called. :ermm::rolleyes::wacko: Been there done that.

This sounds like a great thing to have when my grandsons come to visit. Love the idea! Thanks for giving us something so fun and easy, and tasty!

I did another 321 cake tonight. It's really nice to have just enough cake for one good serving without having to worry about leftovers for days. As I mentioned before I used a chocolate cake mix with the angel food. Tonight when I made the little cake I added about 1/2 teaspoon of cocoa to the mix. It worked great and bumped up the chocolate flavor. Love it.

That's the problem I have with cakes: worrying about leftovers. Unfortunately my worry lasts only a day or two, or less! This is the principal reason I don't cook deserts! :D

So let me suggest, throw some chocolate chips in there next time,, to go along with your cocoa! :pig:

Or even better, take some chocolate peanut butter cups and break them up and add them to the mix! :devilish:

For me the ideal dessert recipe takes hours to cook and hopefully too much labor for me to cook except every few years. :)

Kayelle, I tried this tonight, and it was total awesomeness! Looking forward to adding nuts, maybe some choc chips. Thanks for sharing!

In case anyone is interested. I made the 321 cake this evening . I have an 1100 watt microwave. This time I set it on 35 seconds. I was very pleased with the outcome. it was a little less chewy than when I set it for one minute. The dd and her friend wanted some so I made a double batch. Nuked it for one minute and it was great too. I think for the slightly more powerful ovens the shorter time period for cooking is the way to go.

I must have sweet cravings lately, between this post and Greg's brownie post I am craving something dessert like! I bought the mixes for this at the grocery store this evening. I also have mini PB cups Im going to try in them. :pig:

ooohhh...melt the peanut butter cups on top of the cake when it comes out of the oven still hot. That has to be awesome!

Cup o' cake...I may change the name! I wonder how this would work with a carrot cake.

Just got back from the store and tried the cake. The second mix was butter pecan. Made a double recipe 6-4-2 that turned out well at 1:40 in a small microwave. Great thing for kids.

I couldn't change the name or I'd forget how to make it. :ROFLMAO:
I got the carrot cake mix, joesfolk.

It's good, but I almost wish I had gotten a plain white cake mix so it would be more of a blank palate and I could fool with extracts for other flavorings. I'm not big on chocolate, but I could try a little coco powder and a bit of instant coffee granules for a mocha flavor.

Shrek picked a lemon cake mix. I have it ready to go for our dessert tonight. Tomorrow I'm making the Lemon Angel Food...Maybe I'll change to to a pound cake or lemon curd instead.

I'll bet that would taste awesome but I wonder if changing the acid balance would be a problem. Still, it's not like you would be wasting much if it did flop.

I wonder how it would be with white cake mix and two T of fresh lemon juice instead of water.

I was considering trying the two tablespoons of lemon juice with just one of them tonight...the cake mix didn't smell lemony enough.:)
