We've been wanting to get a toaster oven or similar, but didn't have the counter space. Karen came up with a great DIY version for spice jars.

This cleared enough space for a toaster oven and then some.;)

The many jars are 4 oz each, and the few jars are 1.5 oz each. I still have a few left to do.

We're also down to 2 shelves in the pantry of about 12 D x 18 W that are filled with spices, some big bottles of spices we use a lot and will refill the jars with, and 2 plastic boxes filled with jars and packets of things we don't use regularly.

Nice work, medtran! That looks really pretty.

Thanks, I thought so too. I'd like it if they could be pushed together as they'd look even better, but it would be a major pain in the you know what to even be able to get hold of one of them in the middle, besides the fact that those magnets are really strong!

I like it spread out like that. The backdrop of the black fridge makes the colors of the spices stand out.

Actually, spices and herbs should be kept out of daylight to preserve their taste.

I keep mine in a drawer. I have a set of Ikea "Vairera" spice drawer liners on which the herb and spice jars lie and I can see exactly what I want. The drawer is a narrow one but the liners are sized so you can fit them into any size of drawer. Easy to clean out the drawer too as they aren't permnently fixed & lift out. Cheap as chips, too

I need better spice storage too. Not sure what I'm looking at here. Are these jars with magnetic lids on the refrigerator door? If so, where did you get the jars?

That does look good. Currently I have two Lazy Susan spice carousels in a cupboard, and am thinking I either need to add a third one, or come up with a better solution. The Lazy Susans work okay, but they're getting crowded and occasionally jars get pushed to the middle, where it can take some time (or thyme?) to find that one elusive jar you're looking for.

Nice looking and imaginative setup.

Currently, I have a two-story lazy susan in a corner cabinet for my spices. I used an old angel food cake pan to create a middle level so I can raise the back row up so it's visible.

Thanks all. I'll post links for jars and magnets, as well as a how to tomorrow. There are directions on a site, but they are a little unclear until you are messing with it for a while and have an AHA moment.
