I've also heard them called, liquid chicken.
Not sure which 'previous' generation you're referring to but don't think I ever heard my grandparents call them dried plums.Becuse of our previous generation's hang up with the human body's reaction to the consumption of prunes, for a long while they were actually advertized as dried plums.
