Making an easy French Bread am looking for a long rise recipe if anyone has one.
dissolve 1 pkg of yeast in 1/4 c. warm water. Combine with 1-3/4 c. water,1-1/2 tea. of salt,and5 c. flour. Knead til smooth. Place dough in greased bowl.Cover and let rise 1 hour or til doubled in bulk. punch down and let rise a 2nd time. Knead and then divide in half. Shape into 2 long loaves and put on greased baking sheet or into baguette pan that holds 2 loaves cut slits on top of loaves to allow expansion. Cover and let rise once again 1 hour should do the trick Brush tops with milk or butter bake at 400 for 40 min during the first 10 min spray inside of oven with water from a spray bottle this will crisp up the crusts.
