What to do with Bacon Grease?

Bacon grease is also great to put on your potatoes when you bake them in the oven along with a little course grain salt. Yum!

    Brown Color in Stews

You don't even have to use flour. Just brown the meat in butter! Almost burn the butter; it gives you a rich brownish red color. I've also add left over black coffee.

    What's for Dinner Wed. Sept, 30, 2009?

You know out of my 54 yrs, one thing I have never eaten is lamb? I tried goat once and YUK didn't like it. I remember my dad telling me growing up that lamb was like eating a mouth full of cotton. I know I have watch so many chefs make it on the cooking channel and it always looks really...

Thanks for all the info. I cleaned them all really well and then I put them in the freezer! I didn't know if I should keep them out or not. I know I've bought deviled crabs at the seafood markets before and they are frozen in the shell, so maybe I'll get some use out of the. We love crab and...

    Refrigerating Butter

I use only real butter for everything. I've heard that I can leave sticks in a butter dish or crock on the counter top and do not have to put in the frig. Some say being salted or unsalted has something to do with it also. What do you think?

How long may pork tenderloin be brined?

I use the Neely's brining recipe and they tell you to soak it for 1-2 hours. It really makes a difference as far a moisture. After I watched them on TV I tried it because everytime we would grill pork chops or tenderloin they seem to be too dry. The brining really works!

Red Bliss Potato Salad.. got a TNT Recipe?

I make a pretty mean red potatoe salad, so I'm told. It's good with idoho potatoes too, or any potatoe. I think the secret, my aunt told me long ago, is baking the potatoes and not boiling them. It just gives it a better flavor and doesn't mush up as much as boiled. But I put the chopped...

    First Tomato 6-6-09

We already got tons of tomatoes! Here on the gulf coast they say to replant no later than August. Since ours are playing out now, very small and dying, we are going to replant and see what happens. Kookie, we've been water now nearly every day because it's been so dry and it doesn't seem to...

Thanks for the recipe Kookie! I put up 7 pt this weekend. They really look pretty! I hope they are as good as they look. LOL I also did a rolling boil for the 10 minutes. I did have 1 that I had to boil again. Oh, and I used red pepper flakes in stead of a whole pepper. The only ones I...
