Need help with oven temp for a yeast bread

I thought it was interesting, too. It seems to me I must've found it a few years ago when I was looking for recipes using fennel pollen. Wish I had made note of where I got it. I used pecans for the nuts and I think it would make terrific croutons for a salad using pears and pecans. I'm...

Need help with oven temp for a yeast bread

Thanks so much! I really appreciate the responses. The pan I used was my grandmother's vintage metal one with the star pattern embossing. I adapted the recipe a bit and baked at 375°F for somewhere between 35 and 40 minutes. After it finally got to room temperature, I sliced and tasted...

Need help with oven temp for a yeast bread

Sorting through my recipe file, I came across one for Pear, Fennel Pollen, Hazelnut Bread. It is a breadmaker recipe and I haven't actually used the breadmaker to bake the bread in years. I just use it to make the dough and then bake the bread in the oven. The thing that is throwing me off...

Do you know how to use chopsticks

I eat left handed and have used chopsticks for years, though I have recently found out that is likely improper in some Eastern countries. When our daughters came along it was interesting trying to teach them to use them right handed.

    Homemade Cranberry Sauce?

I'll be interested to hear how you like it. The addition of nuts sounds good. How much orange marmalade in proportion?

    Diet After Gall Bladder Surgery?

About 10 years ago I had a laproscopic gall bladder removal and second what people have said about light, easy to swallow, easy to digest for right after the surgery. What I have found long term is that fatty foods tend to make me ill. Things that most people don't find too greasy are too...

    Fruit and Cheese Desserts

I like Brie with slices of fresh pear. Yum! A classic is Manchego with membrillo. That's a favourite at our house. Fresh figs with Purple Haze goat cheese are delicious.

    Corn: Vegetable or Grain?

Corn is a grain when you are looking at the food groups. At least this is what I was taught in Home Economics classes in college.

    Relish recipe

Sorry the recipe you wanted wasn't in Putting Up Stuff for the Cold Time. I love Crescent Dragonwagon's books, but this is not one I have. Thanks for the heads up about it.

    ISO Italian olives curing recipe

Well, thanks for mentioning this, because now I've gotten all excited about curing olives myself. The ones coming to me are ripe, not green. I've found a number of different recipes and directions and plan to try several of them. I'd love to hear how you decide to do yours and how they turn out.

    Crabapple Jelly

Your jelly is beautiful! I'm anxious for our crabapple trees to start making crabapples. Maybe some Carr's Table Water Crackers and/or plain shortbread cookies would be nice to go with the jelly.

Which do you think is the Best Waffle Iron?

I do not like waffle irons with non-stick finishes. The texture of the waffles is different. So I use two vintage waffle irons - probably from the 1940s. They work great and are not hard to clean.

    Immersion Blender question

I had a cordless Cuisinart that was pretty much useless after the first time or two. Never could get the shaft to stay attached to the motor. About six weeks ago I got a Braun and I love it so much I got a second one for the farm. Both have been getting a workout lately with my crockpot apple...

Looking for old utensil holder called the Kitchen Carousel

Does red go with your new kitchen? I can't post a link yet, but it's Item #270184931536 on eBay. The auction title is: Kitchen Carousel Organizer Caddy Storage Swivel Plastic. Ends 11/14. It looks just like the one my grandmother used to have, except the colour. Hers was almond...
