Does anyone know how to make that cream that lebanese people put in fruit salads???

Is it this, maybe? Cream Filling (kashta) Yields about 2 cups Kashta is one of two basic dessert fillings used in many Middle Eastern desserts, the other being a nut filling. It is normally made from the cream that floats on top of whole cream milk when simmered. I have never managed to make...

    Cream cheese/Olive dip Recipe

Sounds freaky, but the olive sprad you describe is wonderful on date-nut bread. My mom used to get the kind that was in a can. Dunno why, but I seem to remember it being called "Boston brown bread" Sounds weird, but you get a great salty/sweet thing going on.

    ISO Baklava recipes

I used to live near Tarpon Springs, FL...very large Greek community there. The basic recipe for Baklava is usually pretty much the same (phyllo, cinnamon, sugar, walnuts, butter, etc). What usuallu makes the difference is the glaze. In addition to the honey and water, there should be a little...

    Potato salad bombed

Don't feel too bad, Legend_018. I was asked to make potato salad for a cookout last weekend, and had the same exact issue, and with red potatoes too. I can flambe' with ease, make delicate cakes from scratch, etc. etc. But don't ask me to do the darn potato salad. And I have come to the...

"Quickie" Pineapple Upside Down Cake Recipe

I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly the directions on a boxed pineapple upsidedown cake call for a 9x9 pan. That may be why it looks "thin" It's been forever since I have made one from a box though, so maybe I am mis-remembering.

    Making Cannoli

Actually, my filling turned out too runny, so I ended up improvising. I spooned it over slices of pound cake, added some whipped cream, and sprinkled it with chopped pistachios and mini chocolate chips. Not what I intended, but everyone loved it and a couple of people asked me for the...

How to make my baked sweet potato fries crispier??

Most of the recipes I see that address the crispness issue talk about tossing the fries in cornstarch before cooking. I haven't tried this myself yet, so I don't know for sure if it works or not. Might be worth looking into though.

    ISO: Marsala Sauce

Here is the recipe I usually use. It *does* call for butter, but I kind of want to experiment with it. I had a Chicken Marsala at a restaurant recently, and they had obviously used a bit of demi glace in there. Wonderful, velvety texture and depth of flavor. Also, how about making your sauce...

    Making Cannoli

I am having an Italian-themed dinner party this weekend, and I plan to make cannoli for dessert. I plan to serve buffet style, and would like to be able to have them filled and ready in advance. All of the recipes I see say not to fill them until ready to eat, but I have seen them before in...

    ISO keylime pie recipes...

This recipe is a little different, but it's one of my favorites. The texture comes out similar to a custard-style cheesecake, but not quite. If you have ever bought the Edward's Key Lime Pies in the frozen section at the grocery store, this recipe comes out very close...only better. I usually...

How do I make pink lemonade?

This Wikipedia article has some interesting information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemonade This article is interesting as well: http://www.greensense.com/Features/Wild_garden/wild_pink.htm It mentions pink lemonade originally being made from red sumac (also referred to in the Wiki article).

    ISO Bacardi Rum Cake Recipe

While not the Bacardi recipe, this one is also excellent: http://www.recipezaar.com/recipe/getrecipe.zsp?id=108524 It's supposedly a duplicate of the Tortuga Rum Cake recipe. It's not an exact copy, but it's pretty close. It's delicious!

    My Beloved Henckel Died

Henckel knives are, I believe, covered by a lifetime warranty against breakage or damage. Check with your local cutlery store, and they should be able to assist you with where/how to return it for a replacement. Sorry to hear about your knife. Losing a favorite *anything* is my kitchen would...

I need help with a Spanish Flan.

Yep...that's a tube pan. I would probably stay away from using a bundt pan for flan. It's a custard of course, and sometimes the more intricate surface of the bundt pan can make unmolding difficult.

    Hot sauce

Here's the recipe I use. It can be easily modified to suit your tastes. I have changed the heat level of the chili powder, replaced the jalapenos with other types of peppers, etc. Hot Sauce 1 (6.00 ounces) can tomato paste 3 cups water 3 tablespoons vinegar 3...

    Stuffed Mushroom fillings

A delicious but suprisingly simple recipe: Stuff the mushroom caps with a mixture of cream cheese and crumbled cooked bacon. I also sometimes stir in a little garlic or onoin powder for extra kick. Broil until the cheese is starting to bubble and brown on top. That's all there is to it!
