Neutral binding agent to substitute for marshmallows

I would like to experiment with more savory flavors for rice krispie treats, but I need to find a more neutral binding agent that will survive sitting on the counter for two days. How would I use powdered egg whites, for example? What ratios would I need for sugar and corn syrup with gelatin? Would pectin work, or would it be too sweet? I'm in a pickle! :ermm:
