I did not make it to Surfer Paradise but I went to a big boat show at another town there on the Gold Coast. I met a fellow from another forum I manage (www.CruisersForum.com) which has lots of sailors from that area.

I then went up to Cairns for a couple of weeks for R&R and some diving. I really like Queensland. It seemed like one of the most livable places I have seen in the world (clean, friendly people, all the amenities you could ever want). This biggest issue I heard about was the water shortage.

You have a beautiful country!

That would not have been at Hope Harbour - Hope Island", my son was a chef at the resort there until recently.

It's a dreadful situation, we are frantically building desalination plants on the Gold Coast, using recycled sewerage water for crops and now talking about pumping this water in to our dams to drink
