One of the few food items I can not stand, home made or commercial, is cole slaw made with goupy mayonaise. Here's a mayo-less cole slaw recipe given to me by a New Orleans chef who happened to be working in the Sun Microsystems corporate dining room in San Jose, CA, many years ago.
Cajun Coleslaw
1 tsp Hot sauce
2 Tbs Olive oil
1 Tbs Red wine vinegar
1 tsp Garlic, minced
1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
Juice of one lemon
4 Bell peppers, any or all colors, Julienned
2 Onions, chopped
1 head cabbage, shredded
Salt and pepper to taste
