I work for the Forest Service on the Tahoe National Forest as a vegetation management specialist or better known as a forester/timber sale administrator. My degree is a Bachelors of Science in Forest Management. Although I think that the job experience I have gained is more valuable then my degree. I have worked for the Forest Service since 1986 and have 16 years in as a permanent employee. I love my job and would not trade it for the world.

i am a broadcast systems engineer for cbs in nyc. in other words i help the r&d engineers (because, while they are geniuses, they can't seem to remember righty/tighty, lefty/loosey) install all of the electronic gizmos and computers and junk that make tv possible. then we maintain and upgrade those systems as technology marches on. from sattelite up/down links, to studios, control rooms, and cameras, to tape machines and digital disk recorders, to switchers, routers, and lans/wans, we fix 'em all.

sounds exciting, but after 18 years here, i'm ready to go postal.

(btw, brooksy, if you installed a bunch of hubs, routers, and cat 5 cables, would it be a lan down under?)

Before I left the rat race, I was doing accounting and office management. I awoke one day to find that Uncle Sam was getting as much of my money as we were so I retired. I can say for the most part I don't miss a job, but do miss having some extra money now and again.
