Aw, bummer. Your cake looked pretty enough to take the...cake? Uh, ribbon! Better luck next year. At least you know now to dumb-down the flavor for the judges.

Can I suggest putting 1-2 teasp of almond essence into your cake mix? It really is good, especially with the chocolate icing. Also ,put a pinch ( a PINCH mind)of cayenne pepper into your icing. That will 'pep' it up and stand out from the crowd....in a good way. Good luck GG. May the force be with you!

They do a different category each year - cookies, breads, etc. I guess I'll have to practice baking everything!
