My daughter is moving from California back to NC, and is considering having her car shipped across country. Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with any specific car shipping companies?
About 2 years ago I had a 1930 Ford coupe shipped from Idaho to Massachusetts and it cost me $350 through Auto Shipper express.... I received a MAJOR discount because I told them to do it at their liesure and there was no rush...They then quoted me 10-30 days for a "no rush" shipment.
11 days from the date I placed the order for shipping I had the vehicle here. If they can stick the vehicle in a "non-full" shipment....the price drops almost by 1/2 to 2/3's. You can always beat another 10-15% off whatever the end quote is...just name another shipper and say they will do it by however much less...just make up a reasonable number..50-75 bucks extra is better in your pocket then theirs.
I used A1 Auto Transport a couple years ago (Feb '04) to ship a Honda Prelude and a Chevy Blazer from MN to FL, and it ran me about $1250.00 total. But I had a tight schedule, we were moving the entire family and had rental cars, flights, and a moving van to coordinate as well. Both vehicles were picked up in MN on a Tuesday morning, and delivered in FL that Saturday afternoon.
