Let's say your recipe fills more jars than your canner will hold (no I'm not doubling recipes). Is it safe to fill all of your jars, put the lids and screw bands on, process what will fit in your water bath pot and let the other jars sit on the counter until the first batch is finished then place the ones that have been patiently waiting for their water bath in the pot and process?

TIA:)

I think the best, safest answer is...Leave the extra product in the pot...keeping the extra jars/lids etc hot and sterile --- Then pack and process the extra when the first batch comes out. --- HTH

When doing jams and jellies, I fill all the jars at once. But, that's only with jams and jellies.

yes, keep the mixture in the pot untill they are ready for their turn in the waterbath.
Hopes this helps.

I had to do just that today. Process one batch and wait to fill the other jars and process them after the first batch.
