In a bizarre incident while Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was batting, a ball was delivered and hit him on his thigh. In his pocket he had a small tin box of matches, which was split by the impact of the ball. The matches spilled out and caught fire. Thankfully, Sir Arthur did not suffer serious injury and was able to carry on batting.
