Finally tried Cooper's crock pot modification of Alton Brown's recipe. I soaked the pinto beans overnight. Either I did something wrong or our crock pot heats a little hot because the beans were done in about 4 1/2 hours and the sauce didn't thicken very much. Nevertheless, the beans were very good. Sweet on first taste with follow-up heat to round out the taste. The sauce didn't have nearly as strong of a taste as the original recipe.
Anyway, good recipe that I'll try again.
