Hi All,

New member here. I'm looking for alternatives to Weck jars? Given what I am looking for specifically, this is the closest I have found (model #741):

I'm looking for something of a similar shape (glass top, overall shape shallow and wide like a hummus container). My goal is to seal them in boiling water.

The Weck jars are good, however I do not like the look of the plastic gasket (would prefer another color). Also, something cheaper would be better, though not required. The color is important because this is part of a more cohesive product offering.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

741 - 1/4 L Mold Jar - $16.50
Includes: 6 Jars, 6 glass lids, 6 rings & 12 clamps
Height: 2 5/8" Opening: 3 7/8" Volume: 12.5 fl oz.

Those jars would be about 8 ounces.

I do a lot of canning in all sizes of jars. I use the Ball or Mason or Kerr jars and lids. There is not a lot of difference between those kinds. If you can find them at rummage sales they usually are sold for between 25-50 cents each used without lids. Lids run from a dollar to three, for a dozen. You need jar, lid, screw on part.

Last year I purchased 2 cases of this size for a specific purpose. They are really too small for most things. A more common size is pint size and I find them more useful for us, 2-3 people in a household. The pint and quart size are much more common and easy to find. All the brands of Kerr, Mason, Ball, can use the wide mouth or the regular mouth lids and rings, no matter which company you buy them from.
