I can't stand the old stuff! Last night I was using my old meat mallet. It has a metal plate on the tenderizing side and while I was hammering away, it flew off and hit me in the chin. Crappy old stuff!
Whoever said that vintage stuff was good needs their head read...Ah how fickle thou art Rock.

It sounds like it wasn't designed or made very well from from the beginning, so at one time is was "crappy new stuff!!!" Whoever first bought it, perhaps didn't buy wisely!
...Not bad for something I bought at a yard sale for a dollar over 10 years ago.
I got my meat tenderizer at yard sale too. The head keeps coming off the handle. The handle already has a wedge driven into it. I think it's time to get it a new handle.
Just wear a helmet and safety goggles when you use it. You can never be too safe.

That wouldn't have protected your chin, though, would it?
Maybe a welder's helmet.....
Perhaps you should just replace the wedge with a thicker one?I got my meat tenderizer at yard sale too. The head keeps coming off the handle. The handle already has a wedge driven into it. I think it's time to get it a new handle.
