I should have posted in this forum but did so inadvertently in Cookware. My issue is that I'm undecided between the maverick pr-100 and thermapen thermometers. Most reviews I've read concern the PT-100s' slower readings. Basically I need to gauge temps of deep frying oil. It will also be used for internal temps of meats etc.

Can either device monitor hot oil or is a dual IR device required? In advance thanks!

Either will work as will a bulb type thermometer for hot oil. Either probe will do the job in meat as well. The thermapen may be faster but either will do.
