Sick and Tired

i am so sick and tired of going to the doctor. appointment at 4 pm. results of blood tests, etc.

they called and said potassium is to high. evidently this is not a good thing. also anemia is still there, despite large doses of iron. and then results of the blood sugar panel.

just need a bit of support i guess. i am doing diets for diabetes and for low salt and now potassium . pretty soon there won't be anything left to eat.

four out of four vegetables in my fridg . are now off limits.

being old sucks.

babe, being old is trying at times, but as my dh tells me "did you see how Ethan runs to you when he come in? See how Carson calles you Ma and then gives you a hug. How can you say you don't have much to live for. Count your gang and say that again!!!It's frustrating having someone tell you what to do isn't it? I know they are after me all the time. do this don't do that They even said do you have to wear nail polish, why don't I stop cooking for my family, they thought I was eating what I fix for them and until DH finally got angry and said I only cooked it did they finally back off that. babe you are one of our most cared for DC members. Now you could thumb your nose at what he says.In which case you will have problems, or pull yourself up by your boot straps and do what you must to get better. Insist on talking to a dietitian, arm yourself with reading material get better girl all of us are pulling for you. Be strong go nose to nose with that doctor. Ask a pharmacist get all the infor you need learn grow strong. We love you and I know you can do this.

i know there are people that are much worse off than i am. i just don't like the focus of my life to be diet and medication.

the great grandchilden do give me joy. i don't see one of the girls much at all. the other two on an average of once a week. they are so beautiful and full of joy of life, they give me a boost. i do think i am alone to much. don't get me wrong i love living alone. since i have been ill i am sometimes lonesome. i miss my del. he should be here and that he is not is a constant source of pain.

you are right, i know. i am trying my best, just feeling sorry for myself today.

It's always difficult and frustrating when you are trying to get meds right and change your diet. Have confidence it will settle down soon and you'll be at the top of your game before you know it.

babe,
I'm sorry your having such a rough time healthwise. I know what it's like to be at your wits end with things going on in your life. I'm there myself, but not necessarily me, but with my mom and her dementia. Oh I have health problems that keep me from working, but my mom is slowly losing her mind and I miss her so much even when she's in the same room.
Please know that we're here for you to vent on. We're all pretty darn good listeners here on DC. Hang in there sweetheart!

Oh Babe be the strong women I know you are... I don't know how old you are but you have the heart of a young girl... I don't have a DH anymore (lol not that I ever did, cheater that he was, just a little humor) but I have my kids, and my grandchildren... My daughter and my three grandbabies live in Colorado so it's been a year since i've seen them... We Skype, how impersonal, but it works... She will be her in two weekswith the kids, and they are staying for three weeks, so I get Mimi time... You are very fortunate to have family close by... As far as food, you are a very creative woman and you will figure out recipes for the foods you can eat... And you will share right??? XOXO Mimi

babe, I'm sorry you are having these diet restrictions, they really are no fun. Have you consulted with a dietitian? They should be some help to you with meal planning. Are you taking any vit C to help with the iron absorption? I hope you get to feeling better soon and can stop going to those doctors appointments.

thank you beth and all the others with words of encouragement. i am 72 and really for first time feel old.

dr. today said still anemic, game me b vitamin shot and said keep taking the pills. yes , i do take c with the iron twice a day.

he is concerned about renal failure. that sorta goes with diabetics. but is showing worse on tests. that one scares me. gotta go tuesday for more blood tests , more in depth i guess. my diabetic numbers were perfect. the pain in my knees and hands is worse. he wanted to hold up on shots in knee. says to much else is going on to add steroids to the mix. gave me stronger meds. for the pain.

i pretty much know what i can and can't eat. i am just tired of all the restrictions.
i will be cool with it in a couple days. just feeling overwhelmed.

thanks everyone for your kind words. it does help.

babe, do what he say's you do not want to be like me. Life is hard when your kidney's go. Are you taking any epo shots for your kidneys? See a renal doc if you can and do what they say. I have so much I have to do now, when my kidneys went I lost a whole week of my life and still have not remembered. Please , please do what they say. It may prolong kidney use sweetie.I will pray for you babe, get the help you need and follow what they tell you. The rules will exacting but will keep you busy and living as I do is very trying. You're strong I know you can do this.
